[UPDATE 2017:  This monthly “aid” for searchers has been replaced first by “Yo Searchers!  Need Help?”  Then to use a word closer to our cultural Filipino/Tagalog word for strangers, we resorted to “Hoy” shortened to “Oy!”  And it  became — “Oy Searchers!  Need Help?” for every month of every year. The original intention was to help web visitors find the topic (search term) they entered that made them land on many websites including this website.

Rather than figuring out a witty title for every month such as–

we resorted to a uniform title after running out of ideas and confusing searchers.  It is not surprising the visitors still click this link in past years, there is much to learn from answers provided to past searches.  Go check!—Admin1]

3/31 “what does tanach say about resurection” –

3/31 “is that the woman is isrelites in genesis 3:15″ – Prooftext 1a – Genesis 3:15 – Who is the “woman”?

3/29 “ha-satan opposer”/”opposer ha-satan” – Please see 3/11 entry, it includes all the posts about the ‘adversary’ or ha satan.
3/29 “the different spirit of caleb” – My servant Caleb – a different spirit

3/29 “title appointed to jesus identifying him as the figure protected by the hebrew prophets” – There is no title appointed to Jesus by the Hebrew prophets; all the titles attributed to him came from NT writers who used “OT” verses as “prooftexts” to ‘point’ to Jesus as everything they claimed him to be.

3/29 “davidic messiah passages” –

3/29 “gerald schroeder or robert alter” – The Creator – 2 “The Science of God” – MUST READ

3/29 “who were the rabble of non jews who left egypt” – Egypt had a mixture of slaves from different nations, not just the Israelites; most likely, even from among their own Egyptian population. In those days, conquered people ended up as slaves. Egypt needed labor for the building of its humongous structures, the pyramids, and manpower was readily available from their conquests. If you were among the non-Israelites witnessing the power of the God of Israel, would you not want to join these people who were being given instructions to follow on Passove eve and obey the instructions and be delivered by this Mighty God who showed Egypt that their idols and gods had no power? The fact that a “mixed multitude” left Egypt proves that anyone who heard, listened and obeyed the God of Israel was included in the exodus.

3/28 and what is truth?”, asked pilate, and washed his hands” – Pilate: ‘Quid est veritas?’ – Gospel Truth? – 1

3/28 “what were the jews yearly sacrifice” – TORAH 101: What were the animal sacrifices all about? – Jewish Perspective/Rabbi Joseph Telushkin

3/28 “sda genesis 3:15 the seed” – Prooftext 1c – Gen. 3:15 – Who are the “seed,” “offspring”?

3/27 “why was a goat used as a scape goat for sin and not a lamb” –

3/27 “was 2nd commandment tablets broken” – Exodus/Shemoth 32 – 2nd commandment broken, 2 Tablets broken

3/27 “my lips uncircumcised” – Exodus/Shemoth 6-b: Do you have “uncircumcised lips”?

3/25 “yngvar borreson norway” & “why nuland discusses this episode in threescore and ten” – evidently these 2 searchers landed in the wrong website as well as the searcher[s] who keep typing in “fast eddie’s a sexagenarian”.

3/24 “tanukh and pentecost”- Rabbi Kalman Packouz/TORAH and Pentecost – 1

3/24 “is evil spirit mistranslated in 1 samuel”

3/23 ” – “each candle of menorah 7 feasts of yhwh” – This searcher got it right; there ARE 7 branches in the Menorah and the center is called the “servant light” from which all 6 lamps are to be lit (symbolism of that alone is rich; Is Hanukkah a “biblical” feast or is it a festival for the Jews only?). And yes, there are 7 feasts commanded in Leviticus 23, YHWH calls them “MY feasts” and not “your (Israel) feasts” which indicates to us that it is not only Israel who is commanded observe these. Interestingly, the 1st feast named is the weekly Sabbath. Connect the dots, use the prooftexts, use your reasoning and logic, combine it with your desire to know YHWH and serve only Him— come to a conclusion for yourself and apply in your life.

3/24 “in the likeness of adam” – Q&A: Why is Seth the one “in the likeness of Adam” instead of firstborn son Cain?

3/23 “jewish mystique” – please go to entry 3/17

3/23 “ask4″

3/22 “moses temple curtains”

3/22 ”what does uncircumcised lips mean” – This must be the most frequent word-search, it pops up over and over.

3/22 “how your heart and mind can be accessble with god’s voice?” – We have no article specifically about this but we know that YHWH has spoken about Himself as well as His will for humankind on Sinai, preserved in the TORAH, first section of the 3-part Hebrew Scriptures TNK, and that is how He continues to speak to searching hearts and open minds today. The hand of our ‘Elohiym [Mighty One] is upon all them that seek Him, for right, but His power and His wrath is against all them that forsake Him. (Ezra 8:22). 3/17 “the jewish mystique” – Ernest Van Den Haag: MUST READ – The Jewish Mystique

3/17 ”i am a wrathful god” – God doesn’t say He’s a ‘wrathful’ God though His wrath does occasionally show in swift judgment that would serve as lessons, such as the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the Flood. You will notice though that judgment does not come without warning, and lots and lots of it, in Noah’s case, a hundred years of building the ark, to give people time to repent.

3/17 “prophecy in israel remain veiled in obscurity.discuss” – The Prophets of Israel – Christian Perspective

3/17 “how to be an agent for yhvh” – Declare His Name, and live His Torah, anyone can do that.

3/12 ”regan cartoonist”– No wonder they’re extinct . . .

3/11 “evil spirit sinai” – The TNK does not promote the belief in “fallen angels” or evil malakiym as Christianity does (please read the series of posts regarding this, provided below). As we have repeatedly explained in these posts, using simple logic, the only creature endowed with free will is man (humankind); going by that scriptural declaration, malakiym/angels are not similarly endowed and if not, then how could one of them and 1/3 following as Christian scriptures claim, fall from grace and turn evil and rebel against their Maker? To obey or not to obey is given only to one being, that who was made in the Creator’s vision as endowed with the ability to do good . . . or evil . . . as he chooses between those two, only those two, options. Malakiym or angels are programmed to do the Creator’s will, period! So no free will, no capability to disobey! No disobedient messenger/angel, no devil! Follow the logic?

Is God the author of “evil”?

3/11 “how did newly freed slaves get gold in exodus 32″ – Exodus/Shemoth 32 – 2nd commandment broken, 2 Tablets broken — If you notice verse 2-4, the slaves seemed to be wearing golden rings in their ears; so good question, dear searcher, you’re thinking details!! Where indeed would slaves get golden earrings? Please recall that the Egyptians, in their effort to get the Hebrews out of their midst ASAP after the 10th plague, gave them jewelry:

Shemoth 11: 35. And the sons of Yisra’el did according to the word of Mosheh; and they asked of the Mitsrayim jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and clothes.

36. And יהוה gave the people preference in the sight of the Mitsrayim, so that they let them have what they asked. And they snatched away Mitsrayim.

Now a word about that “golden calf”: we are usually influenced by artists’ rendering of the size of this calf, usually imagined to be huge and towering over the people like a huge monument. One artist might have gotten it right, he represented only a small statuette of the golden calf, for to be practical, if 2 million+ slaves were wearing golden earrings, how big an idol could that possibly be turned into? Think about it, but good question! We are learning to look into details and use logic and reason instead of accepting by blind faith the biblical account.

The reason it is our choice is we have looked for one that prints the Name, the Tetragrammaton which most if not all Jewish translations avoid printing; we were fortunate that almost simultaneous with our opening this website, we literally stumbled upon Benmara’s website and from it, availed of his free HNT. It is interesting how this one-man project came about, you may read it in Q&A: His Name Tanakh – Translator’s Notes.

Meanwhile we’re resorting to our own understanding of “nephesh”, figuring out from its use in the biblical texts where the word first appear. Please note the spelling in the HNT — whether animal or human nephesh, the “life” or “breath of life” that is in every living being, all life sourced from the Giver of Life.

[HNT] Bere’shiyth – בראשית

1:30. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creeps upon the earth, that has the nephesh that is living, I have given every green herb for food— and it was so. [Artscroll uses “living soul” for “nephesh”].

2;7. And יהוה ‘Elohiym [Mighty One]formed man of the dusty soil of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the Neshama; and man became a nephesh that is living. [Artscroll here uses “the soul of life” and “living being”.]

Rabbinical commentary: Man has two components, physical and spiritual. Thus, God spoke of both dimensions, as it were, saying that the earth would bring forth man’s body from its elements and God Himself would supply the spirit (Ramban).

Asking the 4 'Why's' on Passover

More on Passover – [contributed by VAN@S6K]
Some questions and answers Exodus (Shemoth) Chapters 12 & 13.
  • Why was the 7th month (Nissan) designated as the 1st month (Tishrei)?
“This month shall be the beginning of months for you; it is to be the first month of the year for you” (12:2).

The Passover was to be the beginning of a new relationship – a new beginning- a new life. It was just proper to mark it as “first”, a beginning, a start of ‘something’.
  • Why eat and kill a lamb and the blood smeared on the two doorposts and lintel of the house in which they eat?
In ancient Egypt the lamb or goat is one of their gods. It was the object of their worship.
“For I will go through the land of Egypt, on that night, and I will strike down all the first-born in the land of Egypt. both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments – I am the LORD (YHVH)(12:12).

A judgment on the gods!  And, also in the ancient world, and the blood is a token or a symbol of confirming to an agreement or proposal. Also, a token on the part of a Sovereign to grant immunity or protection to another.
“And the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live; when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt” (12:13).

  • Why unleavened bread?
According to some commentators, it is a symbol of arrogance, self-centeredness . To obey and to follow YHVH requires humility and purity of heart.
  • Why bitter herbs?
Bitterness expresses an unpleasant experience, to the Israelites, slavery. And, to some it is a thing of the past and should be left behind for one to move forward. With a new found relationship with YHVH, or even with anyone, it is something better to be left behind. Under a new relationship, one should move forward.

These questions may be good to ask during Passover meal (as part of the Haggadah).

Making a "home" for YHWH on earth

[This article is reprinted with permission granted by Meaningful Life Center.  For better readability, we have reformatted the article, and highlighted in bold or underlined the texts that we deem important to note and remember.]

The World a Home

Based on the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe

Why are we here?

This, the mother of all questions, is addressed in turn by the various streams of Torah thought, each after its own style.

The Talmud states, simply and succinctly, “I was created to serve my Creator.”

The moralistic-oriented works of Mussar describe the purpose of life as the refinement of one’s character traits. The Zohar says that G-d created us “in order that His creations should know Him.”

Master Kabbalist Rabbi Isaac Luria offered the following reason for creation:

G-d is the essence of good, and the nature of good is to bestow goodness.  But goodness cannot be bestowed when there is no one to receive it. To this end, G-d created our world — so that there should be recipients of His goodness.

Chassidic teaching explains that these reasons, as well as the reasons given by other kabbalistic and philosophical works, are but the various faces of a singular divine desire for creation, as expressed in the various “worlds” or realms of G-d’s creation. Chassidism also offers its own formulation of this divine desire: that we “Make a home for G-d in the material world.”

A Home For G-d

What does it mean to make our world a home for G-d?

A basic tenet of our faith is that—

  • “the entire world is filled with His presence” and
  • “there is no place void of Him.”

So it’s not that we have to bring G-d into the material world — He is already there. But G-d can be in the world without being at home in it.

Being “at home” means—–

  • being in a place that is receptive to your presence,
  • a place devoted to serving your needs and desires.
  • It means being in a place where you are your true, private self,
    • as opposed to the public self you assume in other environments.

The material world, in its natural state, is not an environment hospitable to G-d.

If there is one common feature to all things material, it is their intrinsic egocentrism, their placement of the self as the foundation and purpose of existence. With every iota of its mass, the stone proclaims: “I am.” In the tree and in the animal, the preservation and propagation of the self is the focus of every instinct and the aim of every achievement. And who more than the human being has elevated ambition to an art and self-advancement to an all-consuming ideal?

The only thing wrong with all this selfishness is that it blurs the truth of what lies behind it: the truth that creation is not an end in itself, but a product of and vehicle for its Creator. And this selfishness is not an incidental or secondary characteristic of our world, but its most basic feature. So to make our world a “home” for G-d we must transform its very nature. We must recast the very foundations of its identity from a self-oriented entity into something that exists for a purpose that is greater than itself.

Every time we take a material object or resource and enlist it in the service of G-d, we are effecting such a transformation.

  • When we take a piece of leather and make a pair of tefillin out of it,
  • when we take a dollar bill and give it to charity,
  • when we employ our minds to study a chapter of Torah —

we are effecting such a transformation.

In its initial state, the piece of leather proclaimed, “I exist”;

now it says, “I exist to serve my Creator.”

A dollar in pocket says, “Greed is good”;  in the charity box it says, “The purpose of life is not to receive, but to give.”

The human brain says, “Enrich thyself”; the brain studying Torah says, “Know thy G-d.”

The Frontier of Self

There are two basic steps to the endeavor of making our world a home for G-d.

  • The first step involves priming the material resource as a “vessel for G-dliness”:

—shaping the leather into tefillin,

—donating the money to charity,

—scheduling time for Torah study.

  • The second step is the actual employment of these “vessels” to serve the divine will:

—binding the tefillin on the arm and head,

—using the donated money to feed the hungry,

—studying Torah, etc.

At first glance, it would seem that the second step is the more significant one, while the first step is merely an enabler of the second, a means to its end. But the Torah’s account of the first home for G-d built in our world places the greater emphasis on the construction of the “home,” rather than its actual employment as a divine dwelling.

A sizable portion of the book of Exodus is devoted to the construction of the Sanctuary built by the children of Israel in the desert. The Torah, which is usually so sparing with words that many of its laws are contained within a single word or letter, is uncharacteristically elaborate.

  • The fifteen materials used in the Sanctuary’s construction are listed no less than three times;
  • the components and furnishings of the Sanctuary are listed eight times;
  • and every minute detail of the Sanctuary’s construction, down to the dimensions of every wall-panel and pillar and the colors in every tapestry, is spelled out not once, but twice —

—-in the account of G-d’s instructions to Moses, and again in the account of the Sanctuary’s construction.

All in all, thirteen chapters are devoted to describing how certain physical materials were fashioned into an edifice dedicated to the service of G-d and the training of the Kohanim (priests) who were to officiate there. (In contrast,

  • the Torah devotes one chapter to its account of the creation of the universe,
  • three chapters to its description of the revelation at Mount Sinai,
  • and eleven chapters to the story of the Exodus).

The Sanctuary is the model and prototype for all subsequent homes for G-d constructed on physical earth. So the overwhelming emphasis on its “construction” stage (as opposed to the “implementation” stage) implies that in our lives, too, there is something very special about forging our personal resources into things that have the potential to serve G-d. Making ourselves “vessels” for G-dliness is, in a certain sense, a greater feat than actually bringing G-dliness into our lives.

For this is where the true point of transformation lies — the transformation from a self-oriented object to a thing committed to something greater than itself. If G-d had merely desired a hospitable environment, He need not have bothered with a material world; a spiritual world could just as easily have been enlisted to serve Him. What G-d desired was the transformation itself: the challenge and achievement of selfhood transcended and materiality redefined.

  • This transformation and redefinition occurs in the first stage, when something material is forged into an instrument of the divine.
  • The second stage is only a matter of actualizing an already established potential, of putting a thing to its now natural use.

Making Vessels

You meet a person who has yet to invite G-d into his or her life. A person whose endeavors and accomplishments — no matter how successful and laudable — have yet to transcend the self and self-oriented goals.

You wish to expand her horizons — to show him a life beyond the strictures of self. You wish to put on tefillin with him, to share with her the divine wisdom of Torah.

But he’s not ready yet.

  • You know that the concept of serving G-d is still alien to a life trained and conditioned to view everything through the lens of self.
  • You know that before you can introduce her to the world of Torah and mitzvot, you must first make her receptive to G-dliness, receptive to a life of intimacy with the divine.

So when you meet him on the street, you simply smile and say, “Good morning!” You invite her to your home for a cup of coffee or a Shabbat dinner. You make small talk. You don’t, at this point, suggest any changes in his lifestyle. You just want her to become open to you and what you represent.

Ostensibly, you haven’t “done” anything. But in essence, a most profound and radical transformation has taken place. The person has become a vessel for G-dliness.

Of course, the purpose of a vessel is that it be filled with content; the purpose of a home is that it be inhabited. The Sanctuary was built to house the presence of G-d. But it is the making of vessels for G-dliness that is life’s greatest challenge and its most revolutionary achievement.1

Discourse: S6K/Messianic – 5

[Posted in 2013, this email exchange is between M, a Messianic missionary, and collaborative work of several Sinaites.  Actually, the original email that started this from M was not intended to be challenged; it was sent to his Messianic flock, ala Paul’s letters, to the churches M planted. We just turned it into a discourse because since we were at the end of his tirades and we felt we needed to defend our new-found faith in the God of the Hebrew Scriptures. We were not copy-furnished the “epistle” and can’t even remember how we got a copy of it.

Discourses are educational and mind-expanding; they give you a running discussion on a common topic from two opposing views. Like passive spectators watching a sports match, you learn while rooting for your player or team. You learn to weigh the evidence you hear, and make a decision in the end or remain neutral. Regardless, that exposure to differing views is always a good thing! Who wins in the end? Hopefully, Truth, and the God of Truth and if you chose THAT side, then you win as well!

—————–

Messianic:

Genesis 18:13-14

13 But YHVH said to Avraham: Now why does Sara laugh and say:
Shall I really give birth, now that I am old?
14 Is anything beyond YHVH? At that set-time I will return to you,
when time revives, and Sara will have a son.

Three “men” came to visit Abraham:

  • One is the LORD Yeshua,
  • the other two are angels, who later on go down to Sodom to rescue Lot and family.

Yeshua in human form, a Theophany, is visiting with Abraham in his tent about their child next year, and about the soon destruction of Sodom. I am always amazed and encouraged by the LORD Yeshua’s words and actions! Truly, nothing is impossible for Him!

S6K Comment:

Where in the TEXT does it indicate that one of these “men” is “the LORD Yeshua?” Jesus of Nazareth has not been introduced anywhere in Genesis!  Plain and simple reading rules require that one does not read another character who has not been introduced into the narrative. This is the problem with Christian infusion of its theology into the Genesis narrative. It is against reading rules to do this. Writers do not violate this rule, and neither should any reader.

Messianic:

Sarah will have her baby, with Abraham, next year when they are 90 & 100 years old!! Their conversation probably [?] covered many topics, including “Yeshua’s Day” in John 8:56-58.

S6K:

How could Abraham fast-forward his thinking to the time of Yeshua? Who can read Abraham’s mind at the time this was happening except the ALL-Knowing God of Abraham? Genesis does not indicate this even if the writer of John’s gospel recounts it centuries later as Christian ‘gospel truth’.

Messianic:

Your father Abraham leaped for joy that he should see My day, and he saw it, and rejoiced. Then the Jews said to Him, You do not yet have fifty years, and have You seen Abraham? Jesus said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Before Abraham came to be, I AM!”

Yeshua is Deity!

S6K:

Just because someone makes claims like Yeshua supposedly does in this text does not make him “Deity” . . . YHWH is clear WHO is DEITY:   HE and no one else! Anyone can say what Jesus said here, it still doesn’t make anyone, in this case Jesus, GOD Himself.

Messianic:

In Genesis 19, the other two are identified as angels in human form, while we see an amazing identification of “the LORD” on earth separate from “the LORD” in heaven.

Genesis 19:24

“Then the LORD rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the LORD out of heaven.”

S6K:

Here are 2 renderings of the same verse:

Artscroll: “Now HaShem caused sulfur and fire to rain upon Sodom and Gomorrah, from HaShem out of heaven.”

EF: But YHVH rained down brimstone and fire upon Sedom and Amora,
coming from YHVH, from the heavens,

A reader who believes in a Trinitarian deity will see “2”; another reader who is monotheistic and believes YHWH is One as He has repeatedly declared all over the Hebrew Scriptures will see “1”.

The rendering, we believe, is simply a Hebraism, a typical Hebrew way of expression using repetition, sometime saying the same thing in 2 ways. It is NOT evidence of a TRINITY, nor of FATHER-GOD and SON-GOD. The same word is used in the KJV [LORD] as in Artscroll [HaSHEM], meaning the same person, not 2 different persons.

Who is LORD? The Father or the Son? Are they both LORD? And that is the problem with substituting LORD or even HaShem for the Tetragrammaton Name wherever it occurs.

Messianic:

The LORD on earth was the One who visited with Abraham, the God of the impossible, identified in John 1:1-3 as the Word, the spokesman for God, being God Himself, and also as the prominent One in Creation!

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”

S6K:

When the proof presented is found in NT, which superimposes its trinitarian theology on TNK where YHWH HIMSELF keep’s declaring HE is One and there is NO OTHER . . . NT is contradicting YHWH’s claim about His Nature, His Name, His being ONE.

Messianic:

When we read Genesis 1:3, And God said, Let there be light: and there was light,” this again is Yeshua speaking! The text simply says In the beginning GOD . . . and this GOD starts creating by simply speaking . . .

S6K:

With all due respect, how can Yeshua be injected here except by a theology that keeps insisting Yeshua pre-existed as God? ‘Sequel NT’ claims have to be supported by ‘Prequel TNK’ claims but in the TNK, nowhere is Yeshua present nor even hinted at as God except in the chosen prooftexts reinterpreted as evidence; Christian orientation sees Yeshua so clearly all over TNK; Jews and Sinaites do not.

Messianic:

I conclude by this and many other passages that Yeshua is the One active and speaking with mankind on earth, while the Father and the Spirit are active but mostly silent in the background.

S6K:

When one gets to know the GOD of Abraham, Moses, and Israel as clearly delineated in TNK, the NT claims appear forced and in fact contrived by men who changed the very nature of GOD in their writings and turned Him into something never claimed nor forecasted in TNK, except in their reinterpretation and rewriting of the TNK.

Messianic:

Does this bother the Father? NO! He is pleased!

S6K:

Where in TNK does it say this? It is in the NT, but not in OT. In fact the TNK keeps repeating how YHWH is a jealous God, who demands worship to HIM alone and to no one else, certainly not a man.

Messianic:

This is their Plan! There is no conflict among Father, Son, and Spirit!

S6K:

Again, an NT claim, nowhere in TNK or TORAH.

Messianic:

They have perfect harmony. Philippians 2:9-11.

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus/Yeshua every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father.”

S6K:

There is aTNK verse that says exactly this, referring to YHWH . . . it is where this whole verse has been lifted:

JPS/Isaiah 45:21-23

21 Declare ye, and bring them near,
Yea, let them take counsel together:
Who hath announced this from ancient time,
And declared it of old?
Have not I the LORD?
And there is no God else beside Me,
A just God and a Saviour;
There is none beside Me.
22Look unto Me, and be ye saved,
All the ends of the earth;
For I am God, and there is none else.
23By Myself have I sworn,
The word is gone forth from My mouth in righteousness,
And shall not come back,
That unto Me every knee shall bow,
Every tongue shall swear.

Messianic:

In Manila we recently had a Seminar on “Biblical Creationism.”  Again, Yeshua is the prime Creator, together with the Father and the Spirit, Who hovers over the mass of material just created, before God begins His 6 days of Creation.

God could have done it all in one day, but He chose to create all in an ordered sequence of 6 days of 24 hours per day. Impossible?? Not for our God! And I do not accept any idea of any “Pre-Adamic World” as explored by Daniel Botkin in this issue of Petah Tikvah, nor any “Gap Theory” between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2. The Creation, the Universe, is only about 6,000 years old, from In The Beginning…” Any departure from this plain statement is a slippery slope away from trusting God completely.

S6K:

This is hindsight post-website infusion, please check out Gerald L. Schroeder

Messianic:

Now, what about the Task that God has given to you and me? Do you get discouraged? Does it seem “impossible”? Do you feel inadequate for the responsibilities before you? Do you think that you lack resources to do the job? Of course – all of the above!!

S6K:

Why should we get discouraged? God doesn’t give man impossible commandments that are beyond man’s ability to fulfill. Just like a human father knows what his child at any age is capable of doing.

Deuteronomy 30 says —-

11 For the commandment that I command you this day: it is not too extraordinary for you, it
is not too far away!
12 It is not in the heavens, (for you) to say: Who will go up for us to the heavens and get it
for us and have us hear it, that we may observe it? Deuteronomy 30:13 And it is not across the sea, (for you) to say: Who will cross for us, across the sea, and
get it for us and have us hear it, that we may observe it?
14 Rather, near to you is the word, exceedingly, in your mouth and in your heart, to observe
it!
15 See, I set before you today life and good, and death and ill:
16 in that I command you today to love YHVH your God, to walk in his ways and to keep
his commandments, his laws and his regulations, that you may stay-alive and become-many and
YHVH your God may bless you in the land that you are entering to possess.

Messianic:

God has given each of us tasks and responsibilities way beyond ourselves, because He wants us to learn to Trust Him for everything.

S6K:

2 Chronicles 16

9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is whole toward Him. Herein thou hast done foolishly; for from henceforth thou shalt have wars.’ (JPS)

Yes, we Sinaites trust YHWH for everything, but He has enabled us (as opposed to being helpless because of inherited sin and being born condemned) to make the right choice and to obey his commandments, not ignore them because Paul in NT teaches “we are under grace not law.” We have always been under grace, and the “law” is part of God’s grace to all humanity.

Messianic:

We have just passed through Yom Kippur. What did it mean to you? Did the observance enable you to renew your Commitment to Him to qualify for His “strong support” for the future? Was Sukkot a joyful New Beginning? After all, Yeshua did not make “atonement” (covering) for our sins for another year. Instead, Yeshua made Propitiation = Full Payment for our sins forever which should give us great Peace and Joy, and Confidence to—

“forget those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14.

S6K:

Again, another NT claim. Propitiation “full payment”? Dictionary definition says “appeasing a god” which is hardly “full payment.” Is this another redefinition of a dictionary word to suit NT theology?

Messianic:

Now that we have been strengthened through the Fall Moedim, we should be able to discern the tactics and activities of the enemy, who goes around like a roaring lion to destroy all the Believers that he possibly can. How I pray for the gift of discernment for all of you!

S6K:

We too pray for discernment for all our Christian/Messianic friends, but discernment comes with lots of study and exposure to a variety of sources, not simply listening to one side while eschewing others.

Messianic:

Lately some of our brethren have fallen victim to Satan’s deceptions and now claim that Jesus/Yeshua was only a mistaken human being, fathered by some man, maybe a Roman soldier, who thought that God would honor his messianic claims, but ended up being crucified, a sad mistake in their opinion.

S6K:

Why does man keep blaming “satan” for deception, aren’t men capable of it without help? Each should do some research on the roots of their beliefs; simply read an objective history of the religion of Christianity from its beginnings; don’t be afraid as well, to check out scholarship and many investigations on the Jesus of history. Weigh all ‘evidence’ against each other, and most importantly, use reason and logic.

Messianic:

They claim that the Apostolic Scriptures were written by ignorant fishermen and other unknown fiction writers. They forget that the “ignorant fishermen” had the Torah memorized from early age, the common Jewish educational system of that time, but did not have a “certificate” from a recognized Yeshiva!

S6K:

Memorizing Torah is different from learning how to read and write. The textual/literary/linguistic evidence shows that Peter could not have written in the Greek of I & 2 Peter. The research on the authorship of NT books is extensive. Read as many books and then make a conclusion.

Messianic:

This apostasy began in Singapore and continued in Baguio, and then in Manila. Apostasy is defined as ” the abandonment or renunciation of a political or religious belief.”

S6K:

Finally we have one point of agreement; admittedly, we are ‘apostates’ because we have abandoned belief in Jesus as God, and worship only the One True God of the Hebrew Scriptures.

M:

Which brings me to the very important subject of Leadership! All of these apostates were in leadership positions!

S6K:

Give these leaders more credit . . . if we never questioned the beliefs we’ve been taught and swallowed without questioning for all of our lives, now that we’ve done our own research and study . . . it takes courage to move on from a major religion and popular belief. Why would anyone do that, unless he is fully convicted that what he has believed all along has been wrong?

Messianic:

How could these possibly deny Yeshua after claiming to have known Him (did they really??) for many years and taught His Word?

S6K:

We all knew Yeshua only as taught and brainwashed that he is everything Christianity decided he should be, decisions by mere councils of men 3 centuries A.D., or CE. In hindsight, we REALLY did not know Jesus/Yeshua . . . .

Messianic:

The result of their defection from Yeshua and the Newer Testament has also affected some of the “sheep” under their care.

Jeremiah 23:1,13. 1Woe unto the shepherds that destroy and scatter
The sheep of My pasture! saith the LORD.
13  And I have seen unseemliness in the prophets of Samaria:
They prophesied by Baal,
And caused My people Israel to err.

S6K:

The “sheep” under our care were free to decide for themselves if they too, after doing their own research and study, agree or disagree with us. In fact you were given the opportunity to present the other side to some of them at a class. Nobody was brainwashed nor coerced into believing or following any of us, we should give the sheep more credit for making their stand on their own.

Messianic:

Rarely was the leadership of Israel godly, leading the people in the Bible way, but then, many of the Prophets and other leaders had to contend with a stubborn people. Look at one of Jeremiah’s attempts to lead the people in God’s way:

Jeremiah 44:15-18.

15Then all the men who knew that their wives offered unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great assembly, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying: 16‘As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee. 17But we will certainly perform every word that is gone forth out of our mouth, to offer unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink-offerings unto her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then had we plenty of food, and were well, and saw no evil. 18But since we let off to offer to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink-offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.

Messianic:

What is the apparent motive for this worship? It seems to be, “What can this god do for me? If this Queen of Heaven god can supply my needs and give me a peaceful life, then why not worship her?” Is the “here and now” all that counts? Not to us, don’t know what you’re leading to here.

S6K:

How is “Queen of Heaven” and utilitarian religion applicable to us? Are you accusing us of false motives for our worship of the God of Israel’s TNK? How many Christians and Messianics think of worshipping the true God in this way? Why did Yirmeyahu/Jeremiah put up with all the suffering he had to endure in his service to the God of Israel? He did what he was told because Jeremiah knew Israel’s God, YHWH, and loved Him; he was in a covenant relationship as an Israelite and was one of YHWH’s mouthpieces to His chosen people. Yirmeyahu worshipped the same God we now worship, YHWH; certainly not Jesus who didn’t even exist then except on the insistence of Christian theology.

Messianic:

Did you fast for Yom Kippur? Why? Did you enjoy fasting? I fasted but I never enjoy it, except it is what is pleasing to my Father.

S6K:

You’ve been talking all this time about the Son, so now you’re fasting to please the Father? You would please Him more if you worshipped Him and give Him His due instead of the so-called Son.

Messianic:

Now back to the question, “Did these apostates really have a Covenant relationship with God, were they Family members?” Only God knows that, but we need to think it through, based on Scripture.

Let John 1:19-23 help us:

“They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us. But you have been anointed by the Holy One (truly born-from-Above!), and you all have knowledge… Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also.”

S6K:

The word “christ” is equivalent to the Hebrew “maschiach” or “messiah.” We no longer agree that Jesus was the “messiah” referred to in TNK; so in that sense, yes we are indeed “anti-christs”, but we still believe in the coming of YHWH’s prophesied “messiah.” We were with you, believing and worshipping the Christian version of God, and now we went out from among you, fortunately for us, and we are not of you anymore in terms of belief and worship! We don’t need to be ‘born from above”, we merely do what YHWH has commanded His people —to love Him, love our fellowmen, live the Torah.

Messianic:

I am thinking now that many have been “Born Again” emotionally, psychologically, politically and made changes in their life, but have never been “Born-From-Above” by the Spirit of God, never having been indwelt and sealed by His Spirit, not a genuine “conversion.” I do not mean any charismatic expression, which is a weak or false foundation! I do not think that anyone truly “saved, born-from-Above” can ever deny Yeshua and depart from Him, especially over such flimsy, deceitful reasons. Yes, the “elect” can be deceived if not walking closely with Yeshua, but if “elect,” then discipline from God happens. If not “elect,” and no discipline is evident, then we have to conclude that they must be bastards, counterfeits, “tares” and not wheat.

What does Yeshua say in Hebrews 12:5-8:

“And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.” It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.”

Lets take a look at Matthew 13:36-43.

Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us(insiders!) the parable of the tares (‘darnel” inferior wheat, not weeds!) of the field. He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; The field is the world (kosmos); the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world (age); and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world (age). The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and (first!) they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.”

Do tares, counterfeit wheat, know that they are tares and not good seed? I doubt it. I think they have deceived themselves into a false assurance based on a faulty understanding of Scripture and the basis of Salvation, maybe still from their church days. Yom Kippur and Hebrews 9-10 make it very clear that “without the shedding of blood there is no payment for sin.” There has been no blood in Judaism ever since AD 70, when the Pharisees revamped Judaism to exist without the Temple, priesthood, and blood sacrifices. That means there is no salvation in Judaism! It also means that there is no salvation in keeping the Noahide laws, a more modern invention to keep Gentiles out of Judaism. We know clearly that there is no salvation in keeping Torah, for Torah is for Believers, those who have a Covenant relationship with God. Remember too that “Abrahamic Faith” includes a knowledge of and surrender to YHVH Yeshua, Son of God and only Savior for mankind. Brethren, we need to be sure our Testimonies and Messages are always clear and to the point, especially in evangelism. Most of you have taken HaYesod or Roots. The basic Foundation is there.

Without Yeshua The Messiah you are not Messianic! Without Jesus Christ you are not even a Christian! Without the Newer Testament/Apostolic Scriptures you do not have the Complete Revelation that God gave, which fills in many details and is the only Inspired expansion of Truth on the basics in the Tanakh/Hebrew Scriptures. We find no conflict between OT & NT, but find that they fit together perfectly. Why? Because God wrote both!

S6K:

Thank you, bring it on! Points of agreement:

  • Without Yeshua the Messiah, we are NOT Messianic.
  • Without Jesus Christ, we are not even Christian.

As for the claim that the “Newer/Apostolic Scriptures” complete the incomplete revelation that God gave, and that there is no conflict between “older” and “newer” — we do not agree—no, the “old” and the “new” of the Christian Bible might have been programmed to agree so that they indeed “fit together perfectly”, but when you get exposed to the Hebrew rendering of the Sinai Revelation, Divine Truth has its distinct and self-confirming message that reverberates through the ages to our day.

Let us give as we always should give the last word to the Revelator Himself  . . . and guess what, that “last word” is not found in the Christian New Testament last book “the revelation of Jesus Christ” but in the last book of the original and true Sinai revelation as faithfully recorded by Moses and whoever picked up his pen when he was given his well-deserved rest.

JPS/Deuteronomy 4

1  And now, O Israel, hearken unto the statutes and unto the ordinances, which I teach you, to do them; that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD, the God of your fathers, giveth you.
2  Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
3  Your eyes have seen what the LORD did in Baal-peor; for all the men that followed the Baal of Peor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from the midst of thee.
4  But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day.
5  Behold, I have taught you statutes and ordinances, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the midst of the land whither ye go in to possess it.
6  Observe therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, that, when they hear all these statutes, shall say: ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.’
7  For what great nation is there, that hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is whensoever we call upon Him?
8  And what great nation is there, that hath statutes and ordinances so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
9  Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes saw, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life; but make them known unto thy children and thy children’s children;
10  the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me: ‘Assemble Me the people, and I will make them hear My words that they may learn to fear Me all the days that they live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.’
11  And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the heart of heaven, with darkness, cloud, and thick darkness.
12  And the LORD spoke unto you out of the midst of the fire; ye heard the voice of words, but ye saw no form; only a voice.
13  And He declared unto you His covenant, which He commanded you to perform, even the ten words; and He wrote them upon two tables of stone.
14  And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and ordinances, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it.
15  Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves—for ye saw no manner of form on the day that the LORD spoke unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire—
16  lest ye deal corruptly, and make you a graven image, even the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female,
17  the likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged fowl that flieth in the heaven,
18  the likeness of any thing that creepeth on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the water under the earth;
19  and lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun and the moon and the stars, even all the host of heaven, thou be drawn away and worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath allotted unto all the peoples under the whole heaven.
20  But you hath the LORD taken and brought forth out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be unto Him a people of inheritance, as ye are this day.
21  Now the LORD was angered with me for your sakes, and swore that I should not go over the Jordan, and that I should not go in unto that good land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance;
22  but I must die in this land, I must not go over the Jordan; but ye are to go over, and possess that good land.
23  Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which He made with you, and make you a graven image, even the likeness of any thing which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee.
24  For the LORD thy God is a devouring fire, a jealous God.
25  When thou shalt beget children, and children’s children, and ye shall have been long in the land, and shall deal corruptly, and make a graven image, even the form of any thing, and shall do that which is evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke Him;
26  I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over the Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.
27  And the LORD shall scatter you among the peoples, and ye shall be left few in number among the nations, whither the LORD shall lead you away.
28  And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
29  But from thence ye will seek the LORD thy God; and thou shalt find Him, if thou search after Him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
30  In thy distress, when all these things are come upon thee, in the end of days, thou wilt return to the LORD thy God, and hearken unto His voice;
31  for the LORD thy God is a merciful God; He will not fail thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which He swore unto them.
32  For ask now of the days past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon  the earth, and from the one end of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?
33  Did ever a people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?
34  Or hath God assayed to go and take Him a nation from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before thine eyes?
35  Unto thee it was shown, that thou mightiest know that the LORD, He is God; there is none else beside Him.
36  Out of heaven He made thee to hear His voice, that He might instruct thee; and upon earth He made thee to see His great fire; and thou didst hear His words out of the midst of the fire.
37  And because He loved thy fathers, and chose their seed after them, and brought thee out with His presence, with His great power, out of Egypt,
38  to drive out nations from before thee greater and mightier than thou, to bring thee in, to give thee their land for an inheritance, as it is this day;
39  know this day, and lay it to thy heart, that the LORD, He is God in heaven above and upon the earth beneath; there is none else.
40  And thou shalt keep His statutes, and His commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.
41  Then Moses separated three cities beyond the Jordan toward the sunrising;
42  that the manslayer might flee thither, that slayeth his neighbour unawares, and hated him not in time past; and that fleeing unto one of these cities he might live:
43  Bezer in the wilderness, in the table-land, for the Reubenites; and Ramoth in Gilead, for the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, for the Manassites.
44  And this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel;
45  these are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which Moses spoke unto the children of Israel, when they came forth out of Egypt;
46  beyond the Jordan, in the valley over against Beth-peor, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel smote, when they came forth out of Egypt;
47  and they took his land in possession, and the land of Og king of Bashan, the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan toward the sunrising;
48  from Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of Arnon, even unto mount Sion—the same is Hermon—
49  and all the Arabah beyond the Jordan eastward, even unto the sea of the Arabah, under the slopes of Pisgah.

Discourse: Sinaite/Messianic – [VAN/RW] = 2 – “Yeshua is not in the TNK”

[As part of our “looking back” to where we were in 2010, we are reposting a series of exchanges between Sinaites and our former messianic teacher “RW“.  This is the original answer of VAN@S6K to the email published in Discourse: VAN/RR: Yeshua in Tanakh . . .?]
 ———————–

Shalom!

This is in reply to your email of the 16th April on Isaiah 48:12-13 and 16.

And, this is my understanding as it is written in the Tanach (Hebrew Scriptures ):

(1). v 12 – 13 The Prophet Isaiah speaking God’s words—

  • calling Jacob as Israel, the name He gave Jacob,
  • proclaiming God’s omnipotence
  • and declaring that God is the Creator…
  • ”My hands founded the earth, and My right hand spread out the heavens..”. The ‘Me” and the “I” is God ,

YHWH. I do not believe this is Yeshua.

v 14 The Prophet Isaiah still speaking—

  • and having proclaimed God’s omnipotence,
  • is now calling on the idolaters to gather
  • and declare that God has made Cyrus,
    • the one whom the “LORD loves”
    • to carry out His will against the Chaldeans.

(2). v 16 Here the Prophet Isaiah is still speaking—

  • and he declares that he had spoken his prophecy regarding Sennacherib’s downfall (chap. 37)
  • for all to hear from the very first time it was revealed to him by God.

Isaiah then issues a new prophecy (v 17). The “me” and the “I” is Isaiah the Prophet. Again, not Yeshua.

(3). Now coming to the “Lamb of God who takes the sins of the world” who, according to the Apostolic (New Testament) writers the “lamb” is Yeshua  who was offered as a sacrifice for our sins.

As I study the Torah, the sacrifices, as instituted by God, were all animals. I  have  not come across human sacrifices except those offered to the god Molech and this is condemned by God. I could not understand where the  Apostolic  writers got this idea that this is acceptable to God.

Also, the  animals sacrificed were “slaughtered” not “crucified”. How then did the “crucifixion” got into the picture? Yeshua, man, was “crucified” as a sacrifice. Has God changed His mind? God did not even allow Abraham  to offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice (Gen.22). Abraham offered a ram instead for a burnt offering in place of his son.

I thank Adonai Eloheinu for you who have led me to the study of the Tanach (Hebrew Scriptures) and I thank Him for giving me the knowledge and the wisdom at 83 (clear thinking for a bonus!) and a better, clearer understanding of His words. I pray that we will all get there.

By the way, I would like to suggest, if I may, to please check out these websites: Messiahtruth.org  and Outreachjudaism.com ,  two of the websites that would give you the “other side” of the picture.

I would also suggest that you get a good copy of the Hebrew Scriptures. What I have is The Stone Edition, The Tanach, Artscroll Series. It is a translation from Hebrew to English. And, it is not adulterated.

Discourse: Sinaite/Messianic – [VAN/RW] = 2 – "Yeshua is not in the TNK"

[As part of our “looking back” to where we were in 2010, we are reposting a series of exchanges between S6K members and our former messianic teacher “RW”.  This is the original answer of VAN@S6K to the email published in Discourse: VAN/RR: Yeshua in Tanakh . . .?]

Discourse: S6K/Messianic – 3 – Before the “Apostasy”

[If you’re following this discourse series, this covers the period before the parting of ways of our small group of Messianics, Christians and independent unchurched from our fellowship/church affiliations.  The Messianic here is our long-time teacher whom we followed from Christianity to his Messianic belief system, taught us for 2 decades at least.  To his credit, he did give us a hearing but refuted our claims all the way, as we expected. We had not organized into Sinai 6000 at the time; we simply got out of Christianity.  Original email exchanges have been edited.–Admin1]

Dec 4, 2010

M:

I thought you were going to explain to me your position, with VAN/BAN or any others, so I can verbally hear your position…listen, not argue, and counter your position if possible.  I need to understand you!!  After all these years, we cannot just split without some interaction!!  That is not Torah.

So I will make time for you…You do not sound like the NSB I thought I knew!!  Sayang..…………[Tagalog for “what a pity” or “what a waste.”

NSB@S6K:

What is “sayang” about refocusing back to YHWH and TNK?  How can FINALLY discovering YHWH and learning to worship Him and no one else  be “sayang”?

Isn’t HE the One True God?

Wouldn’t HE be worth knowing in His self-revelation and action/interaction with Israel as recorded in TNK?

I thought all your teaching was about bringing us back to our Hebraic roots? So now I am taking that route seriously, wholeheartedly, and learning so much more about the Jewish perspective on everything I never knew about and I find I am finally understanding so much more than I ever did from christianity/messianic teaching on the nature of God, sin, atonement, etc.

I have coordinated with BAN to have a meeting at her house first thing Wednesday so we could all talk about our return to our Jewish roots. I will not be joining the noon Bible class with you, I really want my group to give you a hearing because they’ve only heard from me lately.  You will provide the balance. Please encourage them to ask questions about anything they’re not clear about. Filipinos are shy about expressing their disagreement so this gives them total freedom to discuss with you.

M:

No problem…we will see how things develop, with the turmoil in Egypt and other countries setting the stage for pressure on Israel, and then see who is right.

BAN@S6K:

Shalom, once again thank you for your input on Gen. 3:15; I do agree with you that messiah and messianic vision is at the heart of the Jewish people, for after all the messianic vision is an original concept at the heart of traditional Judaism, and the dream of an eventual redemption is one of its foundations.

Where we (NSB, VAN, and I, and of course the Jews) digress from you and the Christian world is your interpretation of WHO the messiah is.  You have identified him as Jesus Christ, the son of God, who is God himself made flesh, which is not at all validated by the Tanach, as evidenced by the mistranslations and misinterpretations advocated by believers in Jesus Christ.

We would rather cling to what God says in-—[AST Tanach]

  • Exodus 20:2-3 –

I am HASHEM, your God, Who has taken you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery. You shall not recognize the gods of others in My presence.

  • Deuteronomy 4:35 –

You have been shown in order to know that HASHEM, He is the God!  There is none beside Him!

  • Isaiah 43:10-11 –

You are My witnesses —the word of HASHEM —and My servant whom I have chosen, so that you will know and believe in Me, and understand that I am He; before Me nothing was created by a god nor will there be after Me!

—–and many other passages as the Tanach is full of God’s affirmation that He alone is God and there is no other.

With regards Genesis 3:15, NSB has adequately declared our stand—we find no messianic prophecy in it at all.  As you have said, you find Jesus in all of Tanach, and yet we do not see that at all.

It all boils down to your faith in Jesus because you believe in the apostolic scriptures; thus, we will neer have a meeting of mind and heart.

We believe only in the One True God as He has revealed Himself in the Tanach.  Let us study His Word with no baggage of Christian theology and see how the Spirit of Adonai will lead us.  Until then, Adonai’s blessings on all of us.  May His Spirit lead us to His truth.

M:

Shalom, I may need to get a Stone Edition of the Tanakh to continue checking on things, but this morning I decided to check out Genesis 3:15.  Both my JPS Tanakh and my Pentateuch & Haftorahs translate as: …..

between your offspring and hers; They shall strike at your head, and you shall strike at their heel.

I am bold to pit my elementary Hebrew against them [referring to Jewish translators], because the Hebrew text clearly says “hu” = he, not they, and of course “ata” = you singular.  These false translations are trying to cover up for the prophecy of The Messiah who will be a person, the offspring of the woman, not all of Israel, as they may try to say.

Of course, The Messiah is all through the TNK in addition to the other meshiach persons, like the king and priest.  The question is, Who is This Messiah?  The January issue of Israel Today has a good section on false messiahs of the past, including Schneerson (sp, I have misplaced my copy) of the Chabad Lubavitch.  If you are really going to “Think Jewish,” you will need to Think Messiah, as The Messiah is at the heart of the Jewish people all through time, the heart of the Davidic Covenant, whether certain Jewish scholars want to admit to the Person or push their idea of a messianic age only.

I just want you to be aware that the scholarship of current Jewish anti-missionaries is not fully honest.  Some of their logic is foolish, and the comparisons they make from OT with NT.  They have an agenda and hatred against Messianics in particular, and are getting lots of money for their efforts.  As you know, we are putting our own money into our ministry.

I can find flaws in their writings and arguments just using logic, a fuller context of passages, and my Interlinear Hebrew, plus my JPS Tanakh.  I do not have the Stone version yet.

With world events lurching on toward our Prophecy position, while you ignore the NT, are you going to accept the mark of the beast on your hand or forehead, as it seems the preparation for that is beginning?

I will not bother you 3 much as I have a lot of preparation to do for our next trip to Manila . . . . But if you find a “gem of Truth,” pass it on.  I am not blind to what is going on, nor blind to the history of the Bible texts in ages past, BUT my Trust in YHVH is unshakeable that He will not allow me to be deceived as long as I am completely honest with Him!!   BTW, even in my JPS Tanakh there are TWO YHVH in Genesis 19:24, the Son on earth calling down fire from the Father in heaven.

BAN:

Thank you that you have not given up on us.  I appreciate your concern and your desire to put us ‘in the light.’  These past months have been an intensive time for us (NSB, VAN, and I) studying the Tanach and the apostolic scriptures, and researching all available sources (Jewish, Christian secular, etc.) we could lay our hands on in order to get to the truth of Adonai’s word.  We might not be scholars on your level, but we rely on what God has revealed in His word, coupled with prayer that He shows us His truth and the willingness to be humble to admit our errors if we are wrong in our conclusions.

I have been following the email exchanges between you and NSB.  I see that there would not be a meeting of the mind and heart between us (NSB, VAN and I) since we are coming from a different presupposition.  As NSB has said, we do not accept the canonicity of the apostolic scriptures anymore.  It would be useless for us to ask you to accept our conviction (the Tanach is the sole rule of faith as it is the only revealed word of God) and rejecting the canonicity of NT after having studied and researched on how it came to be written.

My challenge is that we all continue to study and pray to come to know the truth.  Adonai will surely answer this kind of prayer.  He will not respond to both of us affirming our different convictions.  And when He answers, may He give us the grace to accept and to humble ourselves in admitting our erroneous conclusions.

May the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, guide us as we persevere in our walk of faith in Him.

NSB:

Well said, BAN, let’s rest our case! There is no ‘Shalom’ between us anymore even if we keep saying it to each other.  God’s TRUTH is really a 2-edge sword, dividing former friends who become serious seekers of the TRUE GOD.

As he said, we will “see who is right.”

Quid est Veritas – 4 – Old Truth, New Truth, Half Truths, All Truth and Nothing But . . .

For a whole year, no one seemed to notice the slight change we made on the borrowed quotation from some unknown source about TRUTH that is printed on the scroll that acts as the banner that greets the visitor who purposely or accidentally lands on this website. The original 2nd line was about “laziness that is content with half-truth.”

We discovered this quote way back in the 1990s when we were still diehard Christians frantically propagating Christianity’s version of truth to “save souls”.  One of us first spotted it on a decorative wall hanging and shared it with the others; thankfully ELZ@S6K had written it down because most of us had forgotten about it.

When we reorganized as Sinai 6000, we remembered the quotation and fortunately ELZ still had it in her notebook.  Why did we change the original quote, would “Source Unknown” surface to slap our wrists for deviating from the original? Whoever penned the lines definitely expressed our sentiments 100%, and we are so grateful to “Anonymous” whoever he or she is.  Actually, the original wall hanging attributed it as “An Old Hebrew Prayer” which would have fitted so neatly in our reorganized belief system . . . .but after googling it, all claims indicated “Source Unknown.”

Now why change “half truths” to “old truths”?  Because it perfectly reflects the Sinai 6000 journey from “New Testament” truth— which to us is “old” (although “Half Truth” could have fitted just as well)—to “Old Testament” truth which is the original OLD but was NEW to us.  Follow?

It is indeed the right prayer to grace our banner, for that is what Sinai 6000 is all about: the unquenchable quest for Truth. If a visitor does not retain what he has read in our many articles, we hope this ‘Truth quote’ will continue to linger in his soul and as a result, he will pursue for himself, from all sources, as much as he can learn about God and man and the life we are commanded to live. There are many “Truth” sources to choose from but a seeker will eventually learn to be discerning, know what to swallow and spit out.

Will we ever arrive at the whole truth and nothing but . . .?  Most likely not.  For now, we’re keeping it simple and we really did choose the best quote for this website’s and our S6K purpose.

Just look at the other choices we could have taken, none reflect us to a T:

Had we not ended up choosing this perfect quotation, we might have chosen the Pilate quote which is a rewrite of the Gospel verse by Tim Rice, lyricist of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Jesus Christ Superstar”:

“And what is ‘truth’?

Is truth unchanging law?

We both have truths.

Are mine the same as yours?”

[Pilate: ‘Quid est veritas?’ – Gospel Truth? – 1]

This post is occasioned by the recent visit of some missionary friends (who are still friendly with me, perhaps because they have not heard about Sinai 6000); I welcomed them with as much warmth as they hugged and greeted me.  Since it was our Christian faith that first brought us together some 2 decades ago, naturally the conversation immediately centered on updates about how many souls were “saved” as a result of their evangelistic mission. I had no statistics to show off, since the Torah does not speak in terms of “saved” and “unsaved” but in terms of  “choose today whom you will serve” and consequences of choice.

Christ-centered believers always speak in terms of being “saved” simply by “believing in Jesus Christ” as Lord and Savior, followed by “letting him enter into your heart”, then “waiting for the Holy Spirit to empower you to avoid temptation, not succumb to habitual sins, get you out of your bondage”, and so on.  Belonging to a church or fellowship, regular bible study, Sunday worship, spreading the faith by witnessing to others,  all become part of the new life of the “new creature” in Christ Jesus. Many actively choose their ‘ministry’ depending on how the “Holy Spirit” has gifted them; some are into charity,  teaching bible, music for worship, visiting the sick, etc., all wonderful other-centered faith-in-action that benefit the underprivileged sector in society. This is all not only laudable, but admirable, and indeed touch the hearts of the recipients of God’s grace through such service-oriented religious flock.

This helping and reaching out and such self-giving quality in Christians is what is so attractive to non-believers so much so they want to ‘have’ the same faith.  Christians are at the forefront of any HELP brigade, whether it be Catholic nuns or sisters of charity, international missions of Campus Crusade, Youth with a Mission, 700 Club, etc.

No doubt they are fulfilling the TORAH of YHWH which are full of reminders to help the needy.  For one,  Yeshayahu / Isaiah 58:10-11

And if you draw out your soul to the hungry,

and satisfy the afflicted soul;

then shall your light rise in obscurity

and your darkness be as the noon day:

And YHVH shall guide you continually,

and satisfy your soul in drought,

and make fat your bones:

and you shall be like a watered garden,

and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

Is YHWH pleased that with the networking of people of differing faiths, the needy are blessed?  No doubt.

Are those sincerely carrying out these wonderful deeds that benefit others just as blessed?  No doubt.

Do all these bring glory to YHWH and is His Name praised?  . . . That is for you to answer, dear reader.

I happen to have been on the receiving end of such kindness, graciousness and hospitality from this visiting Christian friend at a time when I was on the ‘needy’ side, if only for assistance in settling down in a strange new environment.  I have been and continue to be grateful to this lovely person “SH” who went far beyond what was necessary to accommodate my basic needs.

Image from www.walkthecross.com

Image from www.walkthecross.com

“SH” suddenly surfaced on my turf recently, accompanied by two missionary friends. She had been the conduit of donations from US and Canada for an orphanage in my city but over and above that, she and the other missionaries are also in “prison ministry” for decades now. I’ve always thought how I fall short in service to God and fellowmen compared to “SH” and her missionary friends.  They shared with pride many stories about conversions of prisoners and how these converts are not only “saved in Jesus” but are also pastors now, in prison and out.

I asked a simple question:  “how is it that every converted prisoner becomes a ‘pastor’?”  Does pastoring not require some training and much biblical knowledge? Is it that easy to become a pastor?  They said there are bible schools in prisons now.  Well and good, changed lives mean change in direction, in or out of prison.  Hopefully so but not always so.  I am sure “real conversions” do happen, but I would not be surprised if there are also ulterior motives on the part of the converted convict or convicted convert.

Actually I have personally known and have heard about pastors who were former convicts; talking about their former life was always preliminary to why one should marvel at the change in their direction. As far as I know, many of them do succeed in “changing lives” of other people who are inspired that despite their ex-convict background, they believed that Jesus changed their hearts. But I also heard from “SH” herself of at least one prison pastor who married one of these missionary women, got his parole, got out of prison, but reverted to his former lifestyle and in fact got a second wife.

With nothing to do and miserable in overcrowded prisons, I suppose if I were a prisoner I would most likely hang around these kind and graciousl missionaries who not only bring ‘the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ’  but also other goodies sometimes, and have my ‘bible connection’ besides good behavior get on record to merit me the possibility of parole.

The reason I’m a bit skeptical is because the the gang of murderers of my youngest brother were all on this salvation-for-prisoners ministry. [Please read Where was God when . . . .]  According to “SH” and her missionary friends, yes, they are all out now, converted, and in fact ‘pastors’.  They recounted with pride that these killers have said in their testimonies that they are happy they ended up in prison where they finally met the Lord Jesus through these missionaries, because had they not committed the last and final dastardly crime (toward my brother) for which they were finally apprehended, brought to trial and convicted, they would still be continuing their non-stop criminal activities of robbery, rape, murder.

Image from booksforevangelism.org

Missionaries add to their accomplishments such happy endings, especially for transformed murderers whose lives had changed from being imprisoned, but I had to articulate my sentiments to my guests with some sarcasm:  “Well, good for them, but I have some difficulty swallowing the drift of their testimonies, considering the torture they subjected my brother to, making him like the virtual sacrificial lamb on God’s altar so they could, after 17 years in a supposed life imprisonment sentence, connect with the Christian savior, be ‘saved’ and paroled, in that order.  So they are all out free now with a new life while my brother is still dead.”  That elicited an uncomfortable silence.

One of them, “RR” in fact was the deliverer of a letter addressed to me from the convict who inflicted the 17 stab wounds, leaving the bayonet on his victim’s neck as if to indicate to us that it was the kindest cut of all.  That letter was the second I had received from this man; the first was when he had first “met Jesus his Lord and Savior” 12 years ago on which I was lectured about forgiveness but never asking forgiveness nor admitting to the crime!  I ignored that letter.  This second one was more of the same, except there was an extra request that our family not hinder the prospect of his being granted parole. Was there admission of guilt, regret, or a plea for forgiveness?  None.

Now I’m told the gang of murderers are out, “pastors” you see, saved by the blood of the Christian god-man.  John F. Kennedy is noted to have quipped “forgive your enemies but don’t forget their names.”  Because Jesus lectured “love your enemies,”  perhaps the most difficult test I underwent as a Christian at the time was to obey that strange command, found in NT (but not in OT as I just recently discovered); so what did my sister and I do way back then? We donated Christian bibles to the local jail where they were held up during trial, and prayed for their conversion.  This was 1992.  Lo and behold, ‘answered prayers’ in year 2013 . . . . not so fast, time will tell!

My thinking has since been radically changed by my exposure to the TORAH of YHWH.  I do know that the worst sinner is pardoned by the God of TNK on the basis of true repentance, turning one’s life around from the destructive direction previously undertaken.  Confession is part of it, and asking forgiveness from those one has harmed or sinned against. What kind of restitution could be made?  I have yet to hear of these reformed convicts writing the children and widow of my brother for depriving them of a loving father and husband, one of the precious lives that was snuffed so prematurely by these hoodlums who had already wreaked havoc on many lives but never reached the courts of justice until our family took it upon ourselves to see to it that justice is served for our brother and all the other victims.

Seventeen years in prison, ‘met Jesus’, born again, paroled.  I pray they learn to live TORAH from here on. It is in the prequel to the New Testament from which they will preach as pastors.  They might discover that the justice of YHWH, while it might not be well executed by imperfect court systems of men is well expressed in many texts, such as Yeshayahu/Isaiah 1:16

Wash yourselves, purify yourselves,

remove the evil of your deeds from before My eyes;

cease doing evil.

Learn to do good, seek justice,

vindicate the victim,

render to the orphan, take up the grievance of the widow.

And let us not forget Bereshiyth 8:9:

Whoever sheds the blood of man,

by man shall his blood be shed;

for in the image of God He made man.

The Artscroll comment on this verse:

“The Torah places another limitation

on man’s right to take a life:

God will demand an accounting

from one who spills his own blood,

For a human being’s life

belongs not to him

but to God.”
